Helping families across Bradford to find the information and help available for them and their children, Bradford Local Offer (LO) provides support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 0 to 25 years of age.
Bradford LO aims to extend its reach across the entire metropolitan so that all families who live with SEND children and young people can locate activities, services and support across the education, health and social care sector.
The website’s core objective was to promote activities and support available across the region for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
As such, we approached key stakeholders, young people, parents/carers and local residents, in order to collect feedback about the current site and subsequent developments via a series of questionnaires throughout the project.
We also invited stakeholders to a number of events, where we held Q&A sessions to ensure that our proposed approach was aligned with their feedback. We also liaised with the parent/carer forum throughout the project.
We developed a dynamic navigation and search functionality - the result is an intuitive, accurate search process, significantly enhancing user experience.
We also developed a portal management tool, enabling external service providers to manage their content through a secure website login. The result is a substantially more user-friendly tool, which has seen a significant uptake in the number of service providers using the website.
From feedback received, the website is regarded by other Local Authorities as the benchmark for a SEND LO system.
